Here at No.6, we're always thinking of new ways to think and talk about fashion. There's so much more to the story than what you see on a hanger in a shop or on the homepage of a website. Every single garment has a backstory populated by people, ideas, intention, and hard work. Clothes are great (of course), but what makes an outfit sing is the people who put it together and the person who wears it. In that spirit, we set out to talk to creative people we admire about their process and what getting dressed means to them.
Welcome back to: The Sixth Sense
For issue #2 we chatted with our regular collaborator, long distance friend, and style inspiration, Elaina Bellis.
Tell us about yourself!
I’m a creative and mother to twin girls, Quincy and Rowe. I work across modeling, content creation, and art direction to tell stories that feel both elevated and deeply personal. My perspective is rooted in creativity first—I draw inspiration from nature, fashion, and the quiet beauty of everyday moments. You can follow along on Instagram @elainabellis.
The whole team at No.6 is loving our spring collection. It has a great mix of dressy and casual – there’s really something for everyone! What pieces did you gravitate toward and why?
I always find myself drawn to pieces that feel effortless but still considered, and this collection really has that balance. The dresses especially stood out to me. They feel feminine but not precious, and easy enough to wear all day. I also loved the more relaxed separates that you can throw on without thinking but still feel put together in. Everything feels lived-in in the best way, which is always what I’m looking for.
How does being a mom to young children impact your wardrobe on the day to day?
It’s definitely made me more intentional. I need pieces that I can move in, that can handle a full day, but that still make me feel like myself. I don’t want to feel like I’ve given that part up. So I think I’ve landed in this place of choosing things that are comfortable and practical, but still beautiful — things that can hold both.
Do your girls have an interest in clothes? How does that manifest, and what are you hoping to impart to them about your relationship to getting dressed?
They do — they’re identical twins and absolutely love dressing the same, which is always so fun to see. They’re actually much girlier and more dressed up than I am most days. They gravitate toward anything pink, sparkly, and special. They pick out all of their own clothes and are surprisingly intentional about what they wear, which I love watching develop.
I hope they grow up seeing getting dressed as something joyful and expressive. Not about rules or perfection, but about what feels like you. Right now it’s all play and instinct for them, and I’d love for them to hold onto that.
Your husband takes such great pictures of you. What do you feel like he captures about your life together from behind the camera?
I think he captures the in between moments. The ones that aren’t posed or planned, especially when we are with our girls. There’s a familiarity and softness to the way he sees us that feels very honest to our life. It’s less about the clothes and more about the feeling of the moment, which is what makes those images so meaningful to me.
Fill in the blank: I’m constantly in search of the perfect ____________ .
Accent pieces for jeans and a white t-shirt. I love a colored shoe, a fun earring, those little elements that make something simple feel personal and complete.
